Firefly in Libraries

If you’re not familiar with the website www.whedonverse.org they collect money to buy Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVDs to donate to libraries. They also do other kinds of charity work in the name of Joss. If you don’t want to give them money, you can also donate DVDs directly to a library and join their tally of how many copies have been given so far. This past January I had some extra cash after my birthday, so I bought a new Firefly DVD set and gave it to my local public library. It took them a little while to catalogue it and get it on the shelf, but they finally did. Now every time I stop by I check to see how they’re doing, and every time I’ve been there not one disc has been on the shelf! They are all always checked out or in transit from another library!! (If any of you live in Essex County on the north shore of MA, let your newbie friends know that they can borrow the Firefly DVDs from the Newburyport Public Library at http://www.mvlc.org [the Merrimac Valley Library Consortium].) I have also found it difficult to find Firefly to rent at video stores, so giving a copy to the library was a good solution for me. Just a suggestion! Plus, now I feel all shiny because I know a ton of people have been borrowing the DVDs that I donated and are hopefully becoming Browncoats! :)
